EU heart health groups back stanols/sterols in functional foods

For the first time, the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) acknowledged that two grams of plant sterols or stanols can help manage cholesterol for patients using statins or with moderate heart disease risk. Rhode Island enters GMO labeling debate

Rhode Island became the 31st state to introduce a bill that would require labeling of foods containing GMOs, with sponsors calling it a right-to-know issue. Opponents, including GMA, are lining up to oppose the legislation. Read more

Curcumin study showing increased bioavailability prompts debate

A recent study conducted by Increnovo LLC and the University of Tampa and funded by OmniActive, looked at the bioavailability of OmniActive's CurcuWin ingredient and found it to increase serum curcuminoid levels over standard curcumin.
